Piano Maintenance

Owning a piano is a major investment, it is important to have your piano serviced by a certified piano technician regulary to protect the value of your piano.  Owning a piano is much like owning a vehicle, for the vehicle to perform optimally, you need to have it serviced routinely.   A piano technician is a mechanic for your piano.  With regular maintenance, your piano will always be a delight to play, and it saves you money.

A piano that is properly maintained and cared for will retain its value, or even increase in value over time.  Pianos left untuned for long periods of time risk the total pitch dropping.  If this is the case, it will take several tunings over many weeks to return the piano to a playable state, and should then be tuned regularly every six months. Dust, sunlight, temperature change, and the natural tension on the strings causes the piano to go our of tune.  Dry climates like Crested Butte are perfect climates for pianos because there is little variation in humidity, and the lack of humidity really helps keep the pianos moving parts from rusting or cracking.
